CCI Investigates RCF for Alleged Urea Product Tagging
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is checking if a fertilizer company, RCF, is making farmers buy extra products with their urea.
A farmer leader complained about this in Maharashtra, and the CCI is investigating to see if RCF is breaking competition rules.
Since urea's price is fixed, companies might be forcing farmers to buy other products to make extra money.
The government warned against this before, and the CCI will now decide what to do.
The CCI has given the Director General 60 days to investigate and report back, looking into if RCF is violating any rules by forcing farmers to buy additional products.
CCI ordered an investigation into RCF for allegedly tying other products with subsidized urea.
The investigation follows a complaint by Maharashtra farmer leader Raghunath Patil.
Farmers are reportedly forced to buy additional products alongside urea due to fixed prices.
The Department of Fertilizers had previously warned against this practice.
The DG has 60 days to investigate and submit a report to the CCI.
