Odisha Assembly Ends Monsoon Session After Repeated Opposition Disruptions

The Odisha Assembly had planned to meet for nine working days.

It ended after only five days because Opposition members repeatedly protested.

Their protests were about an amendment to a mining law.

Because of the disruptions, lawmakers could not hold Question Hour.

Even so, the Assembly passed four Bills.

Ruling-party members also discussed damage caused by floods.

They asked Opposition members to visit flooded areas and suggest ways to help people.

The Assembly was closed early after a ruling-party member said the flood situation required attention.

The minister responsible for disasters said the Mahanadi River did not pose a major threat at that time.
