Toxic vs KGF 2: Yash’s New Film Faces Bigger Stakes
Toxic is Yash’s first movie after the very successful KGF: Chapter 2.
People are comparing the two films because they have the same star.
Toxic had strong advance bookings, but its opening appeared smaller than KGF 2’s.
KGF 2 was helped by being the second part of an already popular story.
Toxic tells a new story and has a different style and director.
Holidays around its release could help more people watch it over several days.
Toxic may also have cost much more to make than KGF 2.
That means it could need very large earnings to be considered a major success.
Toxic opened worldwide on August 26 as Yash’s first release since KGF: Chapter 2.
Advance bookings had generated Rs 35.9 crore by 4 pm on opening day from 10.4 lakh tickets.
Analysts expected Toxic to exceed Rs 80 crore net on day one, but trail KGF 2’s record opening.
KGF: Chapter 2 earned Rs 164 crore globally on day one and nearly Rs 1,198 crore worldwide overall.
Toxic’s much higher and uncertain budget means it may need more than Rs 1,200 crore worldwide to become a clear commercial success.
