US Immigration Fraud Crackdown Targets H-1B and F-1 Visas
Imagine the U.S. government is checking if people are following the rules when they come to the country with visas.
They looked closely at over 1,000 cases in one area.
They found problems in nearly half of them!
These problems included fake marriages and fake job offers.
This means some people were not being honest to get visas.
Because of this, people applying for or renewing H-1B and F-1 visas, which are often used by people from India, might face more checks to make sure everything is correct.
This crackdown is part of a larger effort to stop any cheating in the immigration system.
Operation Twin Shield was conducted in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area in September 2025.
The operation involved USCIS, ICE, and the FBI.
Over 1,000 immigration cases were reviewed, focusing on H-1B and F-1 visas.
Evidence of fraud or non-compliance was found in approximately 44% of the cases.
The crackdown may lead to increased scrutiny for H-1B and F-1 visa applicants.
