BCCI Assures Best Facilities for India at 2026 Asian Games
The 2026 Asian Games will include cricket matches in Japan.
Some reports raised questions about where the cricket teams would stay and what facilities they would receive.
The BCCI said it is not currently worried but can arrange better facilities itself if needed.
Japanese cricket officials said hotels are being offered, while teams can also find their own accommodation.
The cricket matches are scheduled from September 19 to October 3.
The BCCI is also carefully watching 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and other promising young players.
Around 10 to 15 players are being monitored for long-term development.
Saikia also said India has enough spin strength after its recent Test victory in Sri Lanka.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said the board currently has no active concerns about Asian Games arrangements in Japan.
The BCCI is prepared to arrange its own facilities if accommodation or other problems affect India’s players and support staff.
Reports said some Asian teams had questioned accommodation and facilities for the men’s and women’s T20 competitions.
Japan Cricket Association CEO Naoki Alex Miyaji said teams are being offered hotels but may make their own arrangements.
Saikia also said the BCCI is monitoring 10-15 young players, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and defended India’s spin options after a 1-0 Test win in Sri Lanka.
