India Launches Machilipatnam, Strengthens Coastal Defence
The Indian Navy recently launched a new ship called Machilipatnam.
This ship is part of a special group called the Mahe-class, which is designed to protect India's coasts.
The ship was named after a historic port city in Andhra Pradesh.
It was built mostly in India, which shows that India is getting better at making its own ships.
The ship can do many important jobs like finding submarines, keeping an eye on the water, and making sure the coast is safe.
This is a big step for India in taking care of its seas and making sure its coasts are protected.
Machilipatnam (BY 529), the seventh Mahe-class ASW SWC, was launched by the Indian Navy.
The vessel was named after the historic port city of Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Built by Cochin Shipyard Limited with over 80% indigenous content.
Designed for coastal operations including anti-submarine warfare and mine warfare.
