PM Modi announces Civil Defence network, hails women's contribution
On Saturday, August 15, India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, made a big announcement.
He was speaking at the Red Fort.
He said the government will set up a new Civil Defence network.
This network will have many trained volunteers who can help protect people during emergencies.
The volunteers will learn to use modern systems.

He said women who graduate from the National Defence Academy can even lead the army.

He said more than 250,000 startups have already been registered in India.

He noted NDA graduates are demonstrating the capability to lead the nation's military with confidence.
Under the Startup India initiative, over 250,000 startups have been registered, with youth creating employment for others.
