Wonderla Holidays Bets on Chennai Launch, Reports Flat Growth
Wonderla Holidays, which runs amusement parks, saw a dip in profits this past quarter.
This was partly due to weather affecting the number of visitors at some parks, and costs related to a new park opening in Chennai.
However, their newest park in Bhubaneswar did well and helped lessen the overall impact.
The company is hoping that the Chennai park, which is much bigger than the one in Bhubaneswar, will boost their earnings starting next year.
Wonderla is also looking at opening parks in other cities like Indore, and Mumbai.
Wonderla Holidays' Q1 profit after tax decreased by 17% year-on-year.
Total income for the quarter was ₹179.06 crore, with near-flat growth of 1%.
The company's newest park in Bhubaneswar became profitable.
The upcoming Chennai park is expected to drive margin recovery and revenue growth.
Wonderla is in discussions for projects in Indore, NCR, Goa, and Mumbai.
