Ravi Shankar Prasad calls Chidambaram's 'mentally Naxal' remark irresponsible

India recently celebrated its Independence Day, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a speech.

In his speech, he talked about how the government had succeeded in tackling Maoists, also known as Naxals.

Modi also said that even though Naxalism has been removed, some people are still 'mentally Naxal.'

A Congress leader named P. Chidambaram then said he too was mentally a Naxal.

A BJP leader, Ravi Shankar Prasad, said that comment was highly objectionable and irresponsible.

Prasad said Chidambaram should have understood the meaning of the Prime Minister's speech first.

He also said the Congress party has long had a soft approach towards Maoists.

Prasad also claimed Congress leaders, especially Sonia Gandhi, interrupted the singing of the national song 'Vande Mataram' at an Independence Day programme.

He said the Congress should apologise to the country for that.

So the BJP and the Congress are now arguing over these remarks.
