India rules out common BRICS currency, Goyal says

India is part of a group of countries called BRICS, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, plus newer members.

Some countries in the group, like Russia and China, wanted to create a brand-new shared money that all BRICS countries could use together.

But India said no.

An Indian leader named Piyush Goyal announced this after a meeting in the city of Jaipur.

India thinks it is better for countries to trade using their own money instead of one shared currency.

India also wants more countries to use its money, the rupee, when trading.

Using your own currency means your country keeps control over it.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, warned that countries trying to replace the dollar could face very big taxes called tariffs.

The BRICS group has grown and now has 11 member countries.

The meeting also talked about trade, investment, and helping small businesses.
