Delhi Expands Air Quality Monitoring
The Delhi government is adding six new air quality monitoring stations by January 2026.
These stations will check for harmful pollutants and weather conditions to help understand and reduce pollution.
The data will be available to the public in real-time.
The stations will be placed at important locations like universities and sports complexes.
This is part of a bigger plan to make Delhi's air cleaner by using scientific data to take action against pollution.
Currently, Delhi's air quality is very poor, with an AQI of 377, and the main sources of pollution are vehicles and nearby cities.
Delhi government to install six new Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS) by 15 January 2026.
Stations will monitor key pollutants like PM2.5, PM10, sulphur dioxide, and more, along with meteorological data.
Locations include Jawaharlal Nehru University, IGNOU, ISRO Earth Station, Delhi Cantonment, Commonwealth Sports Complex, and Netaji Subhash University of Technology (West Campus).
Real-time data will be integrated with DPCC and Central Pollution Control Board systems and displayed publicly.
Delhi's current AQI is 377, categorized as 'very poor', with vehicular emissions and nearby cities contributing significantly to pollution.
