Delhi HC Seeks Response on WhatsApp Account Suspension Plea
A lawyer named Rohit Pandey had his WhatsApp account suddenly suspended.
This happened without any warning, and he lost important work files and messages.
He went to the Delhi High Court to ask why this happened and to get his account back.
The court has now asked the government and WhatsApp to explain why the account was suspended.
The lawyer says this happened during an important election time and has caused him a lot of trouble.
He wants better rules to stop this from happening to others in the future.
Delhi High Court seeks responses from the Centre and WhatsApp regarding a plea challenging the suspension of a WhatsApp account.
Petitioner Rohit Pandey, a Supreme Court lawyer, claims his account was suspended without prior notice, leading to the loss of important data.
The suspension is alleged to have severely hampered the petitioner's professional duties and participation in the Bar Council of Delhi elections.
The plea seeks directions to the Centre to implement safeguards and an effective grievance redressal mechanism for users whose accounts are suspended.
Despite repeated requests, the petitioner has not received any response from the respondents, leaving him without an effective statutory remedy.
