Nellore Minister Rejects ORR Proposal
The minister in charge of cities in Nellore said the city doesn't need a big outer road called an Outer Ring Road (ORR) right now.
He explained that it would cost a lot of money, especially for buying land and designing the road.
The minister mentioned that traffic is already better because of a new mini bypass and a flyover bridge.
He also said they will make the current bypass bigger and build two underpasses to help with traffic.
The minister added that they will only think about an Outer Ring Road if the city gets much bigger and traffic becomes a big problem.
Another official, however, thinks the ORR is necessary for the city's development.
The minister also talked about making Nellore a smart city by fixing drains and planting trees.
Municipal Administration Minister Dr Ponguru Narayana rejected the proposal for an Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Nellore.
The ORR project is not feasible due to financial constraints, with an estimated cost of over ₹2,000 crore.
Traffic congestion has improved significantly with the introduction of a mini bypass and a flyover bridge.
The existing four-lane bypass will be expanded to six lanes, and two underpasses will be constructed on the national highway.
The NDA government's priority is to provide essential infrastructure and public amenities rather than undertake financially burdensome projects.
