Supreme Court Orders Sustainable Mining Plan for Aravalis
The Supreme Court told the government to make a special plan to protect the Aravalis hills from mining.
They said no new mining licenses can be given until this plan is made.
The plan should cover all the Aravalis hills from Gujarat to Delhi.
Supreme Court directed the Centre to create a Management Plan for Sustainable Mining (MPSM) for the entire Aravalis region.
New mining licenses are barred until the MPSM is finalized.
The MPSM should cover the continuous geological ridge extending from Gujarat to Delhi.
The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) will prepare the MPSM under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).
The order was passed by a bench headed by Chief Justice of India B R Gavai.
