MS Subbulakshmi was a famous singer of Carnatic music from India.

She learned music from her mother, who played the veena.

She became well known for her singing when she was still very young.

She also acted in films, including Meera, but later focused mainly on music.

Her concerts introduced Carnatic music to audiences in India and other countries.

She performed at places such as the United Nations, Carnegie Hall, and Royal Albert Hall.

She won many important awards, including the Bharat Ratna.

She also gave more than 200 concerts to raise money for charities.
