HDFC & ICICI Banks to Offer Same-Day Cheque Clearance

Starting October 4, 2025, HDFC and ICICI banks in India will start clearing cheques on the same day.

This means that if you deposit a cheque, the money should appear in your account within hours.

They're also introducing a Positive Pay System to prevent fraud.

If your cheque is for more than ₹50,000, you'll need to give the bank details about it beforehand.

This helps the bank make sure everything matches up before they pay out.

For cheques over ₹5 lakh, this system is required.

The system helps make sure your money is safe, and the RBI will help resolve any issues faster.
