PM-SETU Rollout Advances, 178 ITIs Await Identification
India has a plan called PM-SETU to make 1,000 training schools better.
They want to add smart classrooms, new labs, and courses that match what factories need.
So far, 822 schools have been chosen, but 178 still need to be picked.
Most states have set up committees to help, but only some have asked companies to join.
The government has approved six projects that will upgrade schools in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Odisha.
The goal is to give students better training and help them find jobs.
822 of 1,000 targeted ITIs identified for upgrade under PM-SETU.
178 remaining ITIs still pending identification by states and UTs.
34 of 36 states/UTs have formed State Steering Committees; only 23 have floated industry participation proposals.
Central government approved six strategic investment plans, covering clusters in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Odisha.
The scheme, launched in October 2025, aims to modernize ITIs with smart classrooms, labs, digital learning, and industry‑aligned courses.
