Maharashtra Launches Drug-Free Mumbai Campaign on July 30
Maharashtra’s chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, started a new program called Drug‑Free Mumbai on July 30.
The plan is to teach kids and teens not to use drugs and to help them stay healthy.
Schools, colleges, parents, and police will all work together.
The government will also give special training to people who help people stop using drugs.
Everyone is asked to promise to keep Mumbai safe from drugs.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the “Drug‑Free Mumbai” campaign on July 30 at the Worli Dome.
The campaign will run year‑long, targeting schools, colleges, parents, NGOs and the public to raise awareness and prevent drug use.
Mangal Prabhat Lodha, the minister heading the de‑addiction committee, urged students to pledge against drugs and called for a mass movement.
Police, health, and social justice departments will coordinate to crack down on drug trafficking, especially near schools and colleges.
The launch included a pledge, a training manual for counsellors, and plans for helplines, war rooms, and school‑based committees.
