India Launches Passport Seva 2.0 with Chip-Enabled e-Passports for UAE NRIs
India is making it easier for its citizens living in the UAE to get new passports.
They are calling this new system Passport Seva 2.0.
The big change is that the new passports will have a tiny computer chip inside, like a smart card.
This chip will store your information digitally.
When you use these new passports at airports, it should help you get through the immigration lines much faster.
The application process is also becoming more digital.
You can upload your photos and other important papers online before you even go to the passport office.
If you make a small mistake on your application, they can fix it right there without you having to start all over.
To apply, you'll need to register online, fill out a form, book an appointment, and then visit an office with your documents.
India's Passport Seva 2.0 aims to simplify and digitize passport issuance globally.
UAE NRIs will receive new chip-enabled e-Passports with digitized personal data.
The e-passports are expected to expedite immigration clearance at international airports.
Applicants can now upload required documents, including photos and signatures, online.
Minor errors on applications can be corrected on-the-spot without additional fees.
