Karnataka Mulls BPL Card Revocation for High-Income Earners
The Karnataka government is thinking about taking away Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards from people who make more than 1.20 lakh rupees each year.
This decision comes after a survey by the Union government showed the need to update the list of who gets these cards.
The Food Minister, K H Muniyappa, mentioned this in Davanagere, explaining the goal is to make sure the cards go to those who really need them.
The Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, has instructed officials to be strict with who gets the cards, ensuring that those who should have them do.
Also, they are providing reservations within Scheduled Castes and have canceled or reclassified many cards already.

The annual income threshold for BPL card eligibility is set at over Rs. 1.20 lakh.
The decision is based on a survey conducted by the Union government.
