Indian Railways Fake Silver Medals Scandal
Indian Railways gave special coins to retired employees as a sign of respect.
These coins were supposed to be made of silver and coated with gold.
But, when some employees got their coins tested, they found out that the coins were mostly made of copper, with only a tiny bit of silver.
This made the employees very sad and angry because they felt betrayed.
The Railways have now started an investigation and have blacklisted the company that supplied the fake coins.
They are also trying to find out how much money they lost because of this.
For the retired employees, this is not just about the money, but about the trust and respect they thought they had earned.
Indian Railways gave fake silver medals to retired employees, which were mostly made of copper.
Laboratory tests confirmed that the coins contained only 0.23% silver.
The coins were purchased from an Indore-based firm, M/s Viable Diamonds, in 2023.
The Railways have seized the remaining coins, blacklisted the supplier, and registered an FIR.
