Maharashtra Launches Purohit Course for Nashik Kumbh Mela

The Maharashtra government is offering a one-month course to train people as Purohits (priests) for the Nashik Kumbh Mela in 2027.

This course is being run by the Skill Education Department and a Sanskrit university.

It includes 45 hours of training divided into four parts, with tests every week.

Participants will learn about Vedic scripts, worship methods, and rituals.

The goal is to prepare people for the religious services needed during the Kumbh Mela.

Some people are debating why the focus is only on religious roles and not on other important jobs like security and healthcare that are also needed for such a big event.
