Telangana High Court Enhances Compensation for 1999 Accident Victim
A fruit vendor named Muchu Hanumantha Rao was badly hurt in a truck accident in 1999.
He had to go through many surgeries and couldn't work for a while.
The court first gave him a small amount of money for his injuries, but later, the Telangana High Court said this wasn't enough.
They decided to give him more money, almost double what he got before, to help with his medical bills, pain, and lost income.
The court also said the people responsible for the accident and their insurance company had to pay this extra money with interest.
The Telangana High Court increased the compensation for a fruit vendor injured in a 1999 accident from Rs 53,078 to Rs 1,21,320.
The court found the original award insufficient, adding compensation for pain, medical expenses, and lost income.
The accident occurred on April 11, 1999, when a truck collided with another truck near Kistaram village.
The victim, Muchu Hanumantha Rao, suffered grievous injuries, including multiple facial fractures and a severe eye injury.
