Microsoft Buys Human Waste to Curb Carbon Emissions
Microsoft is trying to help the environment!
They made a deal to buy a lot of trash, like human waste, from a company called Vaulted Deep.
The goal is to stop their computer systems from causing too much pollution.
Microsoft's computers use a lot of electricity, which can lead to more carbon in the air.
Vaulted Deep will turn the trash into a liquid and bury it deep underground, where it won't release harmful gases.
Microsoft wants to remove more carbon than it puts out by 2050.
This is part of their plan to protect the planet!
Microsoft signed a $1.7 billion deal to buy 4.9 million metric tons of organic waste.
The 12-year deal starts in 2026 as part of Microsoft's carbon emission reduction efforts.
The purchased waste, including human sewage, will be converted into bioslurry.
Vaulted Deep will inject the bioslurry underground to prevent greenhouse gas release.
Microsoft aims to be carbon negative by 2030 and clean up emissions by 2050.
