Bengal CM Meets Rebel MPs Amid Political Realignment Speculation
A group of 20 MPs who left the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal to join a smaller party called the National Citizens’ Party of India (NCPI) met with the state's Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari.
This meeting happened just before the NCPI MPs were supposed to attend a meeting with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in New Delhi.
The TMC wants these MPs to be disqualified for leaving their party, but the NCPI MPs want to be recognized as a separate group and align with the NDA.
The meeting is important because it could change the political landscape in West Bengal and at the national level.
Sudip Bandyopadhyay, a Lok Sabha MP from NCPI, met with West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari in Kolkata.
The meeting took place before NCPI MPs were scheduled to attend an NDA meeting in New Delhi.
The TMC is pushing for the disqualification of the 20 rebel MPs under the anti-defection law.
NCPI MPs seek recognition as a separate parliamentary group and closer ties with the NDA.
The fate of the disqualification petitions remains uncertain, with significant political implications.
