Arjun Erigaisi Wins Double Bronze in Doha
Arjun Erigaisi, a young chess player from India, won two bronze medals in a big chess tournament in Doha.
This is a really big deal because Indian players have not been doing well in these shorter, faster games.
Arjun did really well, even playing against the best player in the world, Magnus Carlsen.
His coach thinks he could have done even better if he had more chances to play in important tournaments.
Arjun showed he can be really good at these faster games, which is exciting for Indian chess!
Arjun Erigaisi won double bronze in the 2025 World Rapid & Blitz Championships in Doha.
He performed exceptionally well, even holding Magnus Carlsen to a draw in the Rapid section.
Erigaisi topped the leaderboard in the Blitz event with 15 points in 19 rounds.
His former trainer, N. Srinath, believes Erigaisi needs more opportunities to play against top-tier opponents to improve.
Erigaisi's success challenges the perception that Indian players struggle with shorter forms of chess.
