Macau's Gaming Revenue Hits $2.6 Billion in December
Macau's gambling industry had a good month in December 2025, making $2.6 billion.
This is a big increase from the previous year, but not as much as experts thought it would be.
The city has been trying to attract visitors with fun events and special deals for big spenders.
Even though more people are visiting Macau than before the pandemic, there are some worries about the future.
Things like China's slowdown in real estate, changing rules about gambling, and tensions with the United States could make it harder for Macau to keep growing.
The stock market also showed some concern, with casino stocks dropping a lot in December.
Macau's gaming revenue reached 20.9 billion patacas ($2.6 billion) in December 2025, a 14.8% increase year-on-year.
Total gaming revenue for 2025 was 247.4 billion patacas, a 9.1% rise over 2024, restoring the market to 85% of its 2019 pre-pandemic level.
December 2025 gaming revenue returned to 91% of the 2019 benchmark, despite efforts to attract visitors with entertainment events and casino promotions.
Visitor numbers in November 2025 were approximately 3.3 million, around 15% higher than pre-pandemic levels, with premium players leading the rebound.
Uncertainty looms over the gaming sector due to China's property market slowdown, unpredictable gambling regulations, and rising trade tensions with the United States.
