Tezpur University in Crisis Over VC Absence
Students and staff at Tezpur University in Assam are very upset and protesting.
They want the Vice Chancellor, Shambhu Nath Singh, to be removed because they accuse him of corruption and not doing his job well.
The university has been shut down for over a month, and many important exams have been canceled.
A committee was formed to investigate these problems, and they have given their report to the governor.
The government is thinking about what to do next, but the protests continue.
Many people, including teachers and other officials, have resigned because of the situation.
The students and staff want a new acting Vice Chancellor and a fair investigation into all the problems.
Students and staff have been protesting since September 21, demanding the removal of Vice Chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh.
The university has been shut down, and all end-term examinations have been canceled.
A fact-finding committee submitted its report to Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, investigating allegations of corruption and mismanagement.
The government is considering advising the VC to go on leave or requesting his resignation.
