Suicide Attempts Linked to Election Review Stress

Suicide Attempts Linked to Election Review Stress

Two men in India tried to hurt themselves because they were very scared about a special check of voter lists.

The first man, Narayan Chandra Sengupta, was a 70-year-old retired worker.

He was so worried about a hearing that he died by hanging himself.

The second man, Bacharuddin Mian, is 60 years old.

He drank poison because he thought his name and his family's names might be taken off the voter list.

Both men were very stressed because of the checks being done by the Election Commission.

A local leader said this is happening a lot and it's the government's fault.

The families of these men are very sad and scared.
