Pro-Kannada Outfits Call for Statewide Bandh on Aug 13

A group of people in Karnataka want to stop water from flowing to the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu.

They say the water should stay in Karnataka because the state is already short on water.

To show how serious they are, they plan a big protest called a bandh on August 13.

A leader named Vatal Nagaraj will ask everyone to join.

The protest will last all day from 6 a.m.

to 6 p.m.

and will cover many towns in Karnataka.

The government of Karnataka has already decided to give the water to Tamil Nadu for 15 days, but the protestors disagree.

They think the water release will hurt farmers in Karnataka.

The protest is a way for them to make their voices heard.
