Great Learning Reacquired by Founders from Byju's
Great Learning, a company that helps professionals learn new skills, was bought by Byju's, a big education company, in 2021 for $600 million.
But now, the founders of Great Learning have bought it back for much less money.
The original deal didn't go as planned, and Byju's is having money problems.
The founders are now trying to get the Singapore part of Great Learning back too.
Great Learning teaches things like data science and computer programming to working adults.
Great Learning's Indian unit was bought back by its co-founder Mohan Krishna Lakhamraju from Byju's for a fraction of the original $600 million acquisition price.
The buyback value is reportedly $10 million, though this could not be independently confirmed.
Byju's is currently facing insolvency proceedings, and lenders are seeking control over its assets.
Great Learning's Indian unit generated ₹470.8 crore in revenue in FY 2025, with a net loss of ₹2.2 crore.
Lakhamraju is negotiating with lenders to acquire the Singapore-registered Great Learning unit, valued at $150-200 million.
