Bengal BJP Chief Attacks Mamata Amid Trinamool Crisis

Samik Bhattacharya, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal, criticized Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress party.

He said the party was no longer important to many people.

His comments came after reports about a possible political exchange between Mamata Banerjee and the Congress.

Bhattacharya also questioned a reported incident involving Trinamool leader Anubrata Mondal.

He called that incident a poorly performed political show and said no police complaint had been filed.

He promised that opposition parties would be able to campaign in municipal elections.

He also said West Bengal could attract more factories and businesses if land-related problems were solved.

On a mosque issue at Kolkata airport, he said religious practices should continue but security must be protected.
