9.7 lakh voters excluded in Haryana SIR
The Election Commission of India recently completed a special exercise to update voter lists in Haryana.
Over 9.7 lakh voters in Gurgaon and Faridabad were left out of the new voter rolls.
These voters were marked as uncollectable because they had moved away, been absent for a long time, passed away, or were duplicates.
The exercise showed a big difference between urban and rural areas.
While the state had a good overall completion rate of 83.61%, urban areas like Gurgaon and Faridabad had a lower rate of 70.73%.
These two cities together have nearly 29% of all unmapped voters in the state.
The final report was released on July 24.
