Awarapan 2 nears ₹100 crore as Batwara 1947 struggles

Two new movies came out in India on the same day, just before Independence Day.

One is called Awarapan 2 and stars Emraan Hashmi.

The other is called Batwara 1947 and stars Sunny Deol.

Awarapan 2 is the sequel to a hit 2007 movie called Awarapan.

Batwara 1947 is a drama about the partition of India in 1947.

Awarapan 2 made a lot more money than Batwara 1947.

By the fifth day, Awarapan 2 had earned about ₹91 crore in India.

It also crossed ₹100 crore worldwide during its first weekend.

Batwara 1947 earned about ₹28 crore in India by the fifth day.

Many people went to see Awarapan 2 because they loved the 2007 original and wanted to see Emraan Hashmi return as the character Shivam.
