Iran, Iraq and Turkey Urge Restraint Amid West Asia Tensions

Iran, Iraq and Turkey said countries should work to stop tensions from becoming worse in West Asia.

Iran’s foreign minister spoke separately with the foreign ministers of Turkey and Iraq.

The officials discussed regional problems and ways to support peace and stability.

Iran and Iraq also discussed keeping their shared border safe.

Iran and Oman made an agreement about new routes through the Strait of Hormuz.

They plan to explain the agreement to Gulf countries at a meeting in Muscat.

The proposed entry route would be fully in Iranian waters, while part of the exit route would also be there.

Iranian officials said the southern route would close, but the United States had insisted that it remain open.
