Maharashtra Pushes To Become Global MICE Tourism Hub
Maharashtra wants more big business meetings, conferences and exhibitions to take place there.
This type of travel is called MICE tourism.
The state has created a Maharashtra Convention Bureau to help event organisers.
The bureau helps connect organisers with government offices and private companies.
It is designed to make permits and approvals easier to obtain.
Maharashtra is also offering financial support and training for event workers.
The state says business visitors often spend more money than ordinary leisure tourists.
It hopes visitors will stay longer and explore the state after their events.
Maharashtra has invited global organisers, delegates and industry stakeholders to host major MICE events in the state.
The Maharashtra Tourism Policy 2024 provides fiscal and administrative support for developing MICE tourism.
The Maharashtra Convention Bureau, announced at IMEX Frankfurt in May 2025, now operates as a centralised facilitator.
The bureau connects government regulators with hospitality and logistics companies and offers single-window clearances.
Initial promotional efforts target Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.
