Goa Assembly Strength Drops to 38
Jennifer Monserrate, a member of the Goa assembly from the BJP, passed away on July 20, 2024, after a long illness.
She was 56 years old and had represented the Taleigao constituency for three terms.
Her death has reduced the total number of members in the Goa assembly from 40 to 38.
The BJP's count in the assembly has also decreased to 26.
Monserrate, a Christian, will be cremated according to Hindu rituals, as per her wish.
Her husband and son are also involved in Goa's politics.
The next assembly elections are due before March 2027.
