NGT Orders Probe Into Hill Cutting in Bhopal Tiger Zone
The National Green Tribunal said it will look into a problem in Bhopal where people think a hill is being cut down and trees are being cut in a place where tigers like to move.
The tribunal sent letters to the state government, the city mayor, the forest department and a pollution board.
Residents say machines are digging the hill without permission.
The area is important for tigers, peacocks and deer, so the cutting could scare the animals and make them come near homes.
A small committee will visit the site, check the claims and report back in six weeks.
The case will be heard again on September 28.
NGT orders probe into alleged hill cutting and tree felling in Akbarpur tiger movement area.
Notices sent to MP government, Bhopal collector, BMC, Forest Department and MPPCB.
Residents claim heavy machinery is leveling government land without permits.

Joint committee of Bhopal collector and MPPCB representative to inspect and report within six weeks; hearing on September 28.
