Manipur Bans Land Transfers to Outsiders
The government in Manipur has made a new rule about land.
It says that people who are not from Manipur can't buy land from the people who are from Manipur.
However, if someone from Manipur wants to sell land to another person who also lives in Manipur, that's okay.
Anyone wanting to buy land must ask the local government for permission.
The government will check the request to make sure everything is right.
If a land sale is for more than a certain amount of money, it must be done through a bank or with a check.
The Manipur government has prohibited land transfers from indigenous people to outsiders.
Exceptions exist for transfers to permanent residents of Manipur.
The policy was announced in a notification by the Land Resources Department.
Those buying land must apply through the district's deputy commissioner.
Transactions over Rs 2 lakh must be done via account transfer or check.
