Telangana Defends Industrial Land Policy
The Telangana government is defending its new policy called HILT.
This policy aims to move polluting industries from Hyderabad to areas outside the city and allow the conversion of industrial lands for homes and businesses.
The government says this will make Hyderabad cleaner and earn a lot of money, around ₹10,776 crore.
They also said that the previous government's policy would have earned much less money.
The opposition parties, BRS and BJP, have called the policy a scam, but the government says it is transparent and open to investigation.
The government also mentioned that industrial groups have welcomed the policy, and it was something they had been asking for.
The policy is voluntary for now, but the government is considering making it mandatory for the most polluting industries.
Telangana government expects to earn ₹10,776 crore through HILT by relocating polluting industries and converting industrial lands.
Previous BRS regime's GRID policy would have earned only ₹574 crore, 20 times less than HILT.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu defended HILT, stating it aims to make Hyderabad a clean, green, and pollution-free city.
Government fixed a uniform Development Impact Fee of ₹7 crore per acre for industrial land conversions under HILT.
Opposition parties BRS and BJP allege HILT is a scam, but the government invites them to seek an investigation.
