Vijayawada hosts massive Tiranga rally ahead of 80th Independence Day

In the city of Vijayawada in India, lots of people came together for a special march called a Tiranga rally.

'Tiranga' means the Indian flag, which has three colours.

The march was part of a campaign called 'Har Ghar Tiranga', which means a flag in every home.

It happened on a Thursday, just before India's 80th Independence Day.

The rally started at the Collectorate office and ended at a big stadium in the city.

Students, young people, sportspersons, police officers and many other citizens joined the march, all carrying the flag.

People shouted happy slogans like 'Bharat Matha Ki Jai' and 'Vande Mataram'.

The leader who organised it, Dr G Lakshmisha, remembered the freedom fighters who helped India become free.

He asked everyone to work together to make their villages, towns and the whole country better over the next 21 years.
