India needs independent aviation safety board, DGCA overhaul: expert

A retired pilot named Minoo Wadia says India's airplane safety needs big changes.

He wants a new, independent safety board that watches over flying in India.

He also wants the government office that checks airplanes, called the DGCA, to be completely redone.

He says that office is mostly filled with office workers, not pilots or engineers who really understand planes.

Wadia says pilots have written to the Prime Minister many times asking for these changes.

He believes flying safety needs people with deep technical knowledge, not just managers.

He also talked about bumpy flights, explaining that turbulence happens all the time everywhere.

Turbulence can come from big thunderstorm clouds or even from air you cannot see.

So when a plane shakes, it is usually a normal weather event, not something broken.
