China Lowers Key Lending Rates After Economic Concerns
China's banks are lowering interest rates to help the economy.
This means loans will be cheaper for people and businesses.
The one-year loan rate went down, as did the rate for long-term loans like mortgages.
This move follows the government easing its monetary policy to help offset the impact of tariffs with the US.
Although there's an agreement between the US and China, challenges such as weak demand still exist.
The goal is to encourage more spending and investment to boost China's economy.
China’s industrial output grew more than expected in April.
Chinese banks lowered their benchmark lending rates for the first time in seven months.
The one-year loan prime rate was reduced to 3% from 3.1%.
The five-year rate, a reference for long-term loans including mortgages, was cut to 3.5% from 3.6%.
These actions follow the PBOC easing monetary policy.
