Karnataka Speaker refers BJP MLA's petition to privileges committee
A BJP MLA in Karnataka, Suresh Kumar, made some comments in the state's Assembly.
He later felt bad about it and asked to remove his words from the records.
But after that, some people from the Congress party put up posters outside his house using his words and even filed a police complaint against him.
The MLA felt this was not right and asked the Speaker to look into it.
The Speaker then sent the matter to a special committee to investigate.
The Home Minister also said he would look into who did this and take strict action.
The Speaker said that such things should not happen and that legislators should be able to speak freely in the Assembly without fear.
BJP MLA Suresh Kumar's petition and police complaint referred to the House Privileges Committee by Speaker U T Khader.
Kumar used a proverb against a minister during a debate in the Assembly and later requested its removal from records.
Posters were pasted on Kumar's house compound wall using his expunged comments, and a complaint was filed against him.
Home Minister G Parameshwara assured action against those involved and condemned the incident.
Speaker Khader stated that such reactions outside the Assembly are unnecessary and that the government should take strict action.
