LoP Babulal Marandi urges removal of barricades around CM residence

In the Indian state of Jharkhand, students are unhappy about exams that are used to give people government jobs, like the JSSC-CGL and JPSC exams.

The students say the exams were not fair and have been protesting for 20 days.

The government put up big barriers, called barricades, on a very busy road called Kanke Road in the city of Ranchi.

The barriers are near the home of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the leader of the state.

Government officials say the barriers keep the Chief Minister safe, especially with Independence Day coming up and more student protests possible.

A leader named Babulal Marandi, who speaks for the opposition, says the barriers are causing terrible traffic jams.

He says school children and vehicles that deliver essential services are stuck for hours.

Marandi is asking the government to remove the barriers and talk with the students instead of using force.

Earlier, during a previous protest, police used water cannons and lathi-charge, which made the movement grow stronger.

The students say they will keep protesting until the government agrees to their demands.
