Partner Arrested at Toronto Airport Months After Indian-Origin Woman's Murder
A woman named Himanshi Khurana lived in Toronto, a big city in Canada.
She came from India.
One night in December, someone told the police she was missing.
The next morning, police found that she had died inside a house.
The police said what happened to her was a murder, and they called it 'intimate partner violence,' which means being hurt by someone close to you.
They believed her partner, Abdul Ghafoori, was responsible.
Ghafoori ran away, and police in Canada and other countries looked for him for about seven months.
Finally, police caught him at an airport in Toronto.
He was charged with first-degree murder, a very serious crime.
He had to appear in court, and the Indian Consulate in Toronto is helping her family.
Abdul Ghafoori, 32, was arrested at a Toronto airport on August 7, 2026, and charged with first-degree murder in the death of his partner, 30-year-old Himanshi Khurana.
Khurana, an Indian national, was found dead inside a Toronto residence on December 20, 2025, after being reported missing the previous night.
Toronto Police received the missing person report on December 19, 2025, at about 10:40 pm from the Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West area.
Police classified the death as a homicide and an 'act of intimate partner violence'; the case was recorded as Toronto's 40th homicide of 2025.
A Canada-wide warrant had been issued for Ghafoori, and Fugitive Squad and Homicide and Missing Persons Unit officers worked with national and international agencies; the country where he had been staying was not disclosed.
