Iran President Reportedly Questioned Secret Dark-Car Meeting with Mojtaba Khamenei
The president of Iran is named Masoud Pezeshkian.
A news report says he was taken to a secret place in Tehran to meet the new leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei.
The meeting was very strange because it happened inside a dark car with very dark windows.
The car was so dark that the president could not see the man sitting next to him.
He heard a voice, but later he wondered if the voice really belonged to the leader.
The newspaper says the meeting lasted only a few minutes and that no handshake was allowed.
The president told other people, though, that the visit was friendly and lasted two and a half hours.
The report also says the meeting only happened after the president said he would quit his job.
The new leader has not been seen in public for about five months, and no recording of his voice has been shared.
That is why many people are asking questions about what is really happening.
Iran International reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian met a man presented as Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei inside a dark, tinted-window car at a secret location in Tehran, where neither man could see the other and no handshake was allowed.
According to the report, the meeting lasted only a few minutes, and Pezeshkian later asked aides whether he had actually met the supreme leader or merely spoken with someone claiming to be him.
The report says the meeting was approved only after Pezeshkian repeatedly requested an audience with Khamenei and threatened to resign, and that his request for a second meeting at the leader's residence was rejected.
Pezeshkian publicly said in May that he had spent two and a half hours with the leader in a 'cordial atmosphere,' contradicting the report's account.
Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly in about five months since succeeding his late father, and no verified audio or video recording of him has been released.
