Over 6,000 Documents Released on Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination
The government just released a bunch of old documents about the killing of Martin Luther King Jr. These documents include notes from investigators, interviews, and details about the hunt for the killer, James Earl Ray.
Although the documents are extensive, many historians didn't find much new information.
It seems most of the documents are the result of years of information collecting.
Some documents are hard to read because they are old.
The release happened around the same time as the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, so it has caused some confusion.
Over 6,000 documents related to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. were released.
The documents, totaling nearly a quarter-million pages, were posted on the National Archives website.
Historians found few new revelations about Dr. King's death in the released documents.
The release occurred without prior notice from the Trump administration.
The documents do not include FBI wiretap recordings or other materials sealed until 2027.
