Visakhapatnam Police Launch 24/7 Community Fridges to Feed Needy
In the city of Visakhapatnam, the police started a special project to help people who do not have enough food.
They put big refrigerators in five public places around the city.
These fridges are open all day and all night.
People and businesses can put extra food they do not need into the fridges.
People who are hungry can take the food for free.
This helps stop good food from being thrown away.
Many companies and shops helped pay for the fridges.
A police officer watches over the program to make sure it works well.
People who want to donate food can call a special phone number.
It is a kind way for the community to share food with those who need it most.
Visakhapatnam city police rolled out 24/7 community fridges at five locations under 'Mission Jyothirgamaya'.
The initiative was introduced by Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi.
Fridges are placed at Jagadamba Junction, Maddilapalem Junction, RTC Complex, Gopalapatnam Petrol Bunk Junction and Old Gajuwaka Junction.
Surplus food from ceremonies, hotels, restaurants and residences is stored hygienically for the needy.
Supporters include Pepsi Company, IKYA Hospital, Lalitha Jewellers, Olive Satish and Nageswara Rao.
