Hamas Open to Freezing Weapons
Hamas, the group controlling Gaza, is willing to talk about freezing or storing their weapons as part of a peace deal with Israel.
This deal is being discussed in two main parts.
The first part is almost done and involves exchanging hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
The second part, which is more complicated, will talk about the future of Gaza, including who will control it and how to ensure peace.
Israel wants Hamas to give up all their weapons, but Hamas says they are ready to freeze or store them for a long time.
There is also talk about an international group led by U.S. President Donald Trump to help oversee the peace process and rebuild Gaza.
Both sides have accused each other of not following the rules during the first part of the deal.
Israel has also said it will not withdraw from a line called the Yellow Line, which it now considers a new border.
The goal is to have a long-term truce and eventually a Palestinian state, but there are still many details to work out.
Hamas is open to freezing or storing its weapons as part of a ceasefire agreement with Israel.
The second phase of the ceasefire will address Gaza's future, including disarmament and troop withdrawal.
An international board led by U.S. President Donald Trump will oversee the implementation and reconstruction of Gaza.
Israel has declared the Yellow Line as a new border, controlling 53-58% of the Gaza Strip.
Hamas and the Palestinian Authority have agreed on a technocratic committee to govern Gaza's daily affairs.
